ARA-290, also known as cibinetide, is an experimental 11-amino-acid peptide modeled on the helix-B surface of erythropoietin. It was designed to investigate tissue-protective signaling while minimizing the erythropoietic activity associated with full-length erythropoietin. Research has examined its interaction with receptor systems involving the erythropoietin receptor and CD131. ARA-290 remains an investigational compound and does not have an FDA-approved therapeutic indication.
